Job Title:             Manufacturing Engineer

 

 

 

The Manufacturing Engineer performs support in the design, fabrication, modification, and evaluation of manufacturing operations.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

  • Compiles and evaluates test and production data
  • Prepares technical analysis
  • Recommends manufacturing methods and processes required to meet design objectives on new or improved products and/or processes.
  • Provides production floor and assembly support in technical matters relating to assembly drawing interpretation, engineering change notices, rework, manufacturing difficulties and specifications.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

No direct reports, but provides training to lower-level Manufacturing Engineers

 

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

 

EDUCATION

 

Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering or equivalent work experience.

 

(degreed NOT necc  but sr experience is)

 

EXPERIENCE

  • 5-10 years experience in aerospace manufacturing environment
  • Capable of using CAD/CAM systems (Solidworks and MasterCAM preferred) to design tooling and create CNC programs.
  • Must be comfortable with setup and operation of 2 axis lathes and 3 axis mills with Fanuc based controls including reading and editing of G code.
  • Must have experience with setup, operation, and programming of MTM (Mori Seiki NT1000 SZM preferred).
  • Will work with other members of the engineering staff to ensure that processing packages are completed in a timely manner.
  • Must be familiar with machining concepts /processing of Nickel, Titanium, and Stainless alloys and the corresponding standard practices, and procedures. Should rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Performs a variety of tasks. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
  • Must have strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to make a decision with at times may be limited data.

  • Language:  English
  • Computer Skills:  MS Office, 3D CAD software (Solidworks, MasterCAM, etc)
  • Mathematical Skills:  Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, rations, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Reasoning Abilities:  Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

 

Frequent bending, twisting, and lifting of 25 pounds.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

 

Mid to high noise level on a manufacturing floor with frequent exposure to manufacturing machinery / equipment.
