The manufacturing engineer is responsible for developing, analyzing, organizing and validating the production methods required for CNC manufacturing of components. For this position, you must possess a passion for process improvement, high speed machining, and tight tolerances.

General Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ability to thoroughly document the complete production process on both CNC and manual manufacturing equipment from bar stock, forgings or castings to finish final dimensions. This document process includes the writing of CNC programing, setting production standards, producing all CADD process operational drawings, specify specific fixtures, tooling and gages required and machine set-up for production.
  • Assures product and processes quality by designing testing methods, testing finished-product and process capabilities, establishing standards, confirming manufacturing processes.
  • Maintains product and process data base by writing computer programs, entering data. Provides manufacturing engineering information by answering questions and request.
  • Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services, following manufacturer’s instructions and established procedures, requesting special service.
  • Capability to review existing production operations to determine opportunities for production throughput improvement.
  • Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements and equipment layout.
  • Integrate design, quality, and production to ensure cost effective new product development and introduction into manufacturing. Identify issues and risks and lead appropriate countermeasures
  • Provide product development support to include design analysis, review and manufacturability
  • Introduce new equipment, products and processes. Present process and equipment recommendations for review and plans for implementation
  • Lead and support process improvement initiatives
  • Use CAD skills to make new drawings and revisions
  • Prepare layouts and drawings of the components to be manufactured
  • Estimates production times, staffing requirements and related costs for management decisions
  • Load Bill of Material and associated manufacturing router steps in Fourth Shift or equivalent ERP system
  • Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements
  • Contributes to Team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science or directly related field OR
  • 5+ years of manufacturing/CNC machining experience
  • Skilled use of CAD software (prefer AutoCAD)
  • CNC Lathe and Mill programming and process development
  • Swiss Machining programming and process development
  • CAM experience for multi-axis equipment
  • Must have experience in cutting tool design and specification
  • Experience with job-cost estimation to include development and preparation of formal quotations
  • Experience in workflow optimization, work measurement, and efficiencies

Desired Skills:

  • Mazak Integrex 200/300 with Mazatrol experience
  • Citizen/Swiss machining with Mitsubishi controls experience
  • Nakamura turning and multi-axis with Fanuc controls experience
  • Precision ID/OD grinding experience to include UVA, Studer, and Tschudin
  • MRP/ERP experience
  • Fuel systems experience preferred
