Client is looking for an exceptional technical leader with excellent project management skills and a strong focus on operational delivery and customer satisfaction to join the expanding of the business at a time of significant growth. This exciting role is focused on the management and delivery of high impact technical projects that run across multiple disciplines and have high levels of customer focus. These range from development of process applications to delivery of manufacturing capacity expansion and cover a range of engineering and manufacturing areas including automation, machine system design and commissioning, non-conventional machining process development and technical customer support. The role covers the management of a small, highly capable team of multi-disciplined engineers and the management of projects across all functions of the business. There is also a very important customer facing element as the primary technical point of contact for all customer enquiries.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Technical engineering leader for the US business and a key member of the leadership team
• Leadership of the engineering and applications team, ensuring annual objectives and immediate priorities are managed to meet business needs and working commitments are met
• Management of simultaneous technical projects on time and to budget. These projects often cover multiple disciplines and an ability to work well with other leaders in the business is key to ensuring success
• Implement fit for purpose project risk management processes aligned to the size and scope of specific projects
• Establish robust data and metrics driven approach to the management for projects and engineering work to ensure performance can be tracked and potential problems are identified in advance and resolved early
• Create and maintain engineering load and capacity planning tool to ensure resource constraints are understood and accounted for in work planning
• Technical point of contact for external customer enquiries
• Responsible for providing works estimates for the engineering elements of any work being quoted
• Establish suitable governance for any significant piece of work to ensure simple, standardized management and reporting
• Weekly status reporting to site leadership team and senior team
• To undertake any other reasonable duties as requested by your line manager on a permanent/temporary basis.

Skills & Experience

• 5 years’ experience within similar technical management roles in a manufacturing environment
• BA/BS degree in a technical discipline or the equivalent experience
• Self-motivated and enthusiastic
• Operationally focused with a strong technical background
• Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to communicate effectively at all level, , able to make persuasive arguments and comfortable in customer-facing situations
• Strong planning and organization skills, ability to multi-task and deal with a varied workload
• Proficient with all Microsoft Office 365 applications including MS Project, Project Web and Sharepoint
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, familiar with complex BOMs
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience with MRP/ERP systems
• Experience in an engineering manufacturing environment

Requirements:

• An understanding of the export requirements as they pertain to aerospace industry
• Non-Conventional Machining Experience or Market Exposure
• Experience aerospace and industrial parts and or machine tools would be an advantage
• US Citizen or existing Green Card Holder due to our customer facilities access requirements.
